5 Things Your Moving Professional Won’t Move

When relocating, make sure you have a great moving professional by your side. But, make arrangements to move the items that professionals won’t touch. Although the list of such items is short, it’s important to know what you are responsible for moving yourself ahead of time. The five items below are a few of the things that an indianapolis in moving company won’t touch during your move.

1.  Have Food, Will Eat

Although movers will technically move food if it’s packed, most professionals advise against moving food to avoid the risks that it may bring, including pests and rodents. Transporting perishable foods also increases risks of contracting a food-borne illness.

2.  Hazardous Materials

Flammable items, such as propane tanks and gasoline, cannot be moved by a moving company due to their liability policy. This is only one type of dangerous material that the moving company will not move, so make sure such items are not included.

3.  Cash/Valuables

Money is easily kept in your pocket, wallet, or purse. Valuable items, such as jewelry or family heirlooms or antiques, are also off-limits for a moving company.  Although insurance allows movers to transport the items, most won’t.

4.  Greenery

Most moving companies prohibit moving flowers and plants. If your move entails moving across state lines, it may not be so easy to get a moving professional to take these items which are sensitive to touch, light, and temperature.

5.  Pets

Snakes, gerbils, or dogs -it doesn’t matter. Any pet is off limits to put inside of a moving truck. Most, if not all, moving companies refuse to transport anything living. It’s dangerous for your pet’s safety and places a lot of risk on the mover’s shoulders.

Apart from the items listed here, moving companies can move most of the items that you need to relocate.
